Stop 1 has Silva & Mendonca Repeating as Champions!
The 2026 season of Pro Footvolley Tour, sponsored by Genius Sports, officially launched this past weekend in Hollywood with a strong display of world-class footvolley, international rivalries, and the next generation of athletes stepping onto the professional stage.
At center stage, Jonathan Silva and Dani Mendonça captured the first title of the 2026 season, setting the tone for what promises to be a highly competitive year on tour. Their performance combined consistency, control, and high-level attacking play that proved decisive throughout the weekend. Runners-up Gustavo Teodoro (Dallas, TX) and Bruninho Soares (Huntington Beach, CA) showed that their 2025 Ocean City, MD title was no fluke as well. Mendonca proved a steady partner with limited errors and consistent effective setting as opponents continued to not serve in his direction.

Team USA Star Jonathan Silva was the weekend’s Most Valuable Player.
The women’s division also returned with intensity and quality, delivering some of the most exciting matches of the event. Melony Poviones showed excellent form, playing with Larissa Eugenio da Silva. Both demonstrated sharp timing and strong defensive reads. Larissa Eugenio da Silva continued to establish herself as one of the weekend’s standout performers with composed play under pressure.
A featured international exhibition highlighted the growing global appeal of the sport, as Poviones teamed with Will “SuperBoy” Lobato in a USA–Brazil matchup against Larissa Eugenio da Silva and Bruno Soares of Huntington Beach, California. In a spirited contest, Larissa and Bruno secured the victory, adding another strong chapter to the ongoing USA–Brazil rivalry.

A major visual enhancement this year came through the support of the City of Hollywood, whose sponsorship of stadium seating elevated the spectator experience and created a stronger professional atmosphere for both athletes and fans. The added seating brought a true arena feel to the beachfront setting and helped showcase the event in a more elevated format.

Beyond the elite competition, one of the weekend’s most encouraging developments was the debut of several young athletes entering the professional environment. College players Eduarda Jansen, Haley Mettrick, Ana Beatriz Dure, and Maria Fernanda Gomes Quintes Franca each made appearances, signaling a promising future pipeline for the sport.

The energy around the venue remained high throughout the weekend, with staff, players, and spectators expressing excitement about both the quality of play and the continued growth of the tour. The opening stop made clear that 2026 begins with momentum, international depth, and rising talent already making their mark.
