Team USA’s Jonathan Silva & Dani Mendonca Win 2024 Copa Americas Footvolley
On a scathing hot South Florida summer afternoon – Team USA’s Jonathan Silva and Dani Mendonca cooled their nerves and took the title on Hollywood Beach (FL). In what many considered a mild upset, the nation’s #1 squad first beat the much-heralded Brazilians Gustavo Teodoro and Bruno Soares [25-23 in Semi-Final #1] before winning the Title Match 25-17 versus the other American side in William ‘SuperBoy’ Lobato and Fernando Plentz. What a world class display of footvolley on Hollywood Beach, FL!
Team USA’s Jonathan Silva / Mendonca celebrate after winning the 2024 Copa Americas Footvolley Championship
‘This was one of the most difficult tournaments we have ever played together in. Winning was the icing on the cake for all the hard work we’ve been putting in.’
– Jonathan Silva (after the win)
‘Taking nothing away from Ferny & Will; but we knew that Brazil were the toughest match-up for us. So we really focused on that Semi-Final match.
We took a more relaxed approach into the Final which I think helped us win. We won rather comfortably.’
– Dani Mendonca
The Semi-Finals went down like this:
– Team USA Silva/Mendonca 25 x Brazil’s Teodoro/Soares 23
– Team USA Plentz/Lobato 25 x Paraguay Martinez/Davalos 19

Team USA 1 Silva/Mendonca 25 x Team USA 2 Plentz/Lobato 17
