Will Lobato Finally Wins A 2024 Tour Stop
Will Lobato had been close. His desire to win a 2024 Tour Stop had been unabashedly obvious.
‘It’s all I wanted. You get so close; but then it just seemed to slip away each time. Today I made sure that didn’t happen.’
– Will Lobato after his Stop 8 Win
Today – Will ‘SuperBoy’ Lobato once again redeems the accolade as America’s #1 Footvolley athlete in winning Stop 8 of the 2024 Tour presented by Genius Sports. He did so with a new partner in teen sensation Matteo de Paula. The duo were able to dominate the group stage and then escape past Victor Martinez and Sasha Machado in the semi-finals and then pushed past fellow Team USA athlete Thiago Cunha and Gabriel Souza to crown themselves Champions. Although Matteo played well past his years AND created instant buzz, the Championship pressure rested on the shoulders of Will Lobato. The story lines for Matteo will go on; but today it was about Lobato getting that much needed Championship win. And he did just enough to win the event. He stayed composed and let Matteo grow in the match. He was aggressive when he needed to be and was clutch when it mattered the most.
