NEW PARTNERSHIPS TAKE CENTER STAGE ON DAY 2 at 2026 NATIONS CUP
OCEAN CITY, MD — With the athletes in town and the 2026 Pro Footvolley Tour Nations Cup approaching, Friday in Ocean City offered something completely different.
Instead of immediately putting the national teams into competition, Day 2 featured an All-Stars exhibition format that mixed up the field and created a series of new partnerships.
Players who would soon represent their countries — and in some cases compete against one another — shared the court as teammates for a day of challenge matches featuring men’s, women’s and mixed competition.
The women opened the action with Bia Dure and Maria Ventura teaming up for a 25-18 victory over Larissa Eugenio and Nanda Quintes.
The men’s challenge matches followed and produced one of the closest contests of the day. Gustavo Teodoro (Brazil) and Jonathan Silva (USA) edged Diane Morris (England) and Facundo Silva (Spain), 25-23. Geraldo Torres (Mexico) and Jose Vidal (Argentina) followed with a 25-20 victory over Mickey Elias (England) and Luiz Sierra (Spain).
The format changed again for the final three matches as the men and women joined forces for mixed challenge competition.
Larissa Eugenio and Jerry Ruiz opened the mixed portion of the schedule with a 25-22 win over Maria Ventura and Jose Vidal.
Gustavo Teodoro and Bia Dure then teamed for a 25-21 victory over Mickey Elias and Nanda Quintes.
The day closed with another tight battle as Larissa Eugenio and Julian Conditi defeated Maria Ventura and Lucas Paes, 25-23.
The All-Stars format gave Ocean City fans an opportunity to see the international field in a completely different setting. New partnerships, mixed teams and unfamiliar combinations created a relaxed exhibition atmosphere without taking away the competitive nature of the matches.
More importantly, Friday served as the final tune-up before the focus shifted to national pride.
With the exhibitions complete, the new partnerships would disappear and country colors would take over as the 2026 Pro Footvolley Tour Nations Cup moved into international team competition in Ocean City.
