Pro Footvolley Tour Stop 8 —
Revenge, Returns, and Resilience in the Storm
Nov 30, 2025
Hollywood, FL
Stop 8 unfolded under some of the toughest conditions of the season. Persistent rain, swirling winds, and multiple storm delays tested not only the athletes’ skill sets but also their patience and mental toughness. Despite the weather disruptions, the level of play remained high, and the event delivered several compelling storylines that defined the weekend.
Silva & Mendonça Get Their Revenge
The headline storyline belonged to Jonathan Silva and Dani Mendonça, who capped off a dominant run by exacting revenge on Felipe Elias and Gustavo Elias, the fraternal twins who had previously gotten the better of them. Silva and Mendonça were sharp from the start, navigating group play efficiently before elevating their game when it mattered most.
Their championship match lived up to expectations, with Silva and Mendonça edging out the Elias twins 25–23 in a dramatic final that came down to execution under pressure. In difficult weather, their composure and ability to manage the conditions proved to be the difference, sealing a statement victory and one of the most competitive finals of the season.
‘We really wanted our revenge and were able to get it today! Expect us to continue winning well into 2026! We are BACK baby!’
– A jubilant Jonathan Silva after the Championship Match
‘It wasn’t that they had played so well last time; but that we didn’t play to our level. This time we fixed our errors.’
– Dani Mendonca
The Return of Plentz — and Davalos’ Rust
Another major storyline was the return of Fernando Plentz, back on tour after injury and partnering with former Tour MVP Moises Davalos. While the pairing showed flashes of quality and experience, Davalos’ time away from competition was evident at key moments. Timing and rhythm — often the first things to suffer after a layoff — were inconsistent, especially in longer rallies and late-game situations.
Still, the duo battled their way through group play and elimination matches before falling in the semifinals to Silva and Mendonça. For Plentz, the return itself was a positive sign, and with more reps together, this team has the potential to become far more dangerous as the season progresses.
Lobato Still Searching for the Right Fit
William Lobato once again showcased his undeniable talent and athletic ability, but results continued to reflect an ongoing issue: the search for a consistently compatible partner. Teaming up with Victor Martinez, Lobato had moments of brilliance but couldn’t find the sustained chemistry needed to make a deep run.
Lobato’s skills clearly place him among the elite on tour — he has the tools to win it all — but Stop 8 reinforced the reality that footvolley success at this level requires balance on both sides of the net. Until Lobato finds a partner who can consistently match his level, results may continue to fall just short of expectations.
‘It’s a bit frustrating. My partner did his best; but collectively we could have been better.’
– Will Lobato post his Semi-Final defeat
Battling the Elements
Rain delays and gusty winds were a constant factor throughout the day, forcing players to adapt on the fly. Shot selection became more conservative, rallies longer, and mistakes more costly. The teams that advanced deepest were those who best managed the conditions — staying patient, communicating well, and limiting unforced errors.
