Free International Footvolley Event Brings World-Class Athletes to Ocean City July 30–August 2

OCEAN CITY, Md. – Some of the world’s best footvolley athletes will converge on Ocean City this summer as six nations compete in the 2026 Nations Cup, a four-day international beach sports festival featuring elite competition, free youth clinics, and All-Star exhibitions.

Presented by Ocean City Tourism, the event takes place Thursday, July 30 through Sunday, August 2, on the beach in Ocean City and is free for spectators.

National teams representing the United States, Brazil, Spain, England, Argentina, and Mexico will compete for the prestigious Nations Cup championship.

Leading Team USA is Jonathan Silva, 24, of Deerfield Beach, Florida, the winningest player on the Pro Footvolley Tour over the past four seasons.  He will pair up with Dani Mendonca (Boca Raton, FL) giving the US its strongest National Team ever.  The two compete together on the Tour as well.

Brazil is led by Lucas “The Model” Paes, 31, who captured runner-up honors at the 2025 Ocean City Pro Footvolley Tour event and returns looking to finish one step higher.  His partner will be Gustavo Teodoro who won the 2025 Ocean City Open playing then alongside Bruninho Soares.

Spain is led by Facu Silva, who travels with his partner all the way from Spain’s Canary Islands (Islas Canarias) to compete.

England’s squad, Michael Elias & Michael Daine Morris, train in Ibiza for half of each year, bringing a unique international pedigree to the tournament.

Argentina features two athletes from Buenos Aires, led by Julian Conditi, while Mexico is led by Jerry Ruiz, with both Mexican athletes living and training between San Diego, California, and Tijuana, Mexico.

In addition to the men’s international competition, six professional female footvolley athletes will showcase the rapidly growing women’s game during Thursday and Friday All-Star exhibitions. The group is headlined by Maria Eduarda Barbosa of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, alongside elite competitors based in Southern California and South Florida.

Unique Championship Format

The 2026 Nations Cup features one of the most exciting championship formats in international beach sports.

Each day, all six national teams compete in a complete tournament, creating two full days of championship-caliber competition.

If the same nation wins both Saturday and Sunday’s tournaments, they are immediately crowned 2026 Nations Cup Champions.

However, if different nations win on Saturday and Sunday, those two champions advance to a winner-take-all Grand Final, held immediately following Sunday’s tournament to determine the overall Nations Cup Champion.

The innovative format guarantees fans a championship atmosphere on both days while also providing flexibility in the event of inclement weather, ensuring the tournament can still produce a deserving champion even if one day of competition is impacted.

The free youth clinics give aspiring young athletes the opportunity to learn directly from some of the sport’s top professionals in a fun, interactive beach setting.

Footvolley combines the athleticism of soccer with the excitement of beach volleyball, allowing players to use every part of their body except their hands to keep the ball in play. The sport has grown rapidly around the world and continues to expand throughout the United States through the Pro Footvolley Tour.

“The Nations Cup is about bringing together elite international athletes while giving families an unforgettable beach sports experience,” said Sergio Menezes, Founder of the Pro Footvolley Tour. “Ocean City provides the perfect backdrop to showcase one of the world’s fastest-growing beach sports.”

The 2026 Nations Cup is presented by Ocean City Tourism. The 2026 Pro Footvolley Tour is sponsored by Genius Sports. The Official Broadcaster is beIN SPORTS.  The Official Airline of the Pro Footvolley Tour is Copa Airlines.
