The 2021 Pro Footvolley Tour started with Mixed Doubles here on Pompano Beach (FL). The ladies were up to the task. The favorites played well through the group stage. Melony Poviones and Will Lobato in Group A advanced on-top as clear favorites. In Group B, Fiorella Pellegrini and Maxi Schenfeld were the best team. In what was a mild upset, Leticia Mangabeira and Lucas Paes beat beat Poviones/Lobato
to advance to the title match. There, Fiorella Pellegrini proved why she is the top female athlete on Pro Footvolley Tour at the moment. With Maxi Schenfeld playing equally as well – the duo won the first Mixed Doubles Tournament of 2021.
‘Playing with a fellow Argentine I guess makes it even sweeter. He’s actually born in Chile! But his parents are Argentine. We won … all that matters’
– Fiorella Pellegrini after the Championship Win
‘Disappointing to lose in the Semi-Finals. We had the better of them; but sort of gave the game away at the end. Strange day!’
– Melony Poviones on her loss
In the second Semi-Final, rookie Kayra Amaral (Gainsville, FL), just 18 years old, played with Tour veteran Billy Oliveira (Coconut Creek, FL). They nearly beat the Champions; but lost in a dramatic
match 25-22.
‘Happy to finally debut. It was a great game. They made less mistakes. Overall, glad to finally play my first tournament.’
– Kayra Amaral
